Oscar tells us of his design, “My design drew inspiration firstly from the postcards which depict stamps of the world in a collage format. Those I see from time to time in collections and were mostly printed in Germany in the late Victorian and early Edwardian era. These colourful postcards which were surely made for stamp collectors are incredibly fun and colourful. I always enjoy seeing them and often the stamps depicted on the cards I have handled in real life! For my design I wanted to incorporate examples of stamps from all the reigns from Great Britain and the iconic ironwork of the roof of the Business Design Centre. A building which has been the home of Stampex for many years.''

''I'm very pleased that my little design was selected for this years postcard competition. Since childhood I have always been drawing and took up watercolours in my late teens. Glad to see that my A Level art is finally being put to good use! I hope people will enjoy this postcard as a little souvenir of the great philatelic highlight of the year."

We received so many fantastic design entries into this competition so we want to thank everyone who entered. The judges loved learning about your inspiration and passion for philately and Stampex.

The judges selected two runners-up from the entries so we wanted to share these with you.

Runner Up Design by John Phillimore

Designer: John Phillimore

Inspiration: “London Delivers Inspired by London’s long association with the postal service and Stampex, this design combines familiar landmarks, stamps, postmarks, letters and the iconic red pillar box. The imagery celebrates London as a meeting place for collectors while the international postal elements represent philately reaching far beyond the city. At its heart is the 70th anniversary of Stampex and seven decades of connecting collectors, preserving history and sharing a worldwide passion for philately.”

Runner Up Design by César Augusto Henkel

Inspiration: “An image was created to invite people to Stampex 2026 in London. It features elements depicting the fascinating world of stamps and philately, the exhibition mascots, and the PTS, as well as a historic coin and stamp. The emotions of a collector with his album and a young boy sending a letter—along with a carrier pigeon—add an emotional touch to the image."

Will you be at Stampex this October in London?

I am a middle school teacher, and the data you presented in the social media video got me thinking about stamp collecting among teenagers. I attended a lecture on the use of artificial intelligence at the online Stampex conference, where I learned new things about my own collection and about collecting in general. My takeaway is that the connection between the world of artificial intelligence and the inner world—and hobbies—of teenagers can also be expressed through stamp collecting. By Hagit Berkovitch

I was very happy that my design was chosen by the judges as one of the finalists. I would love to receive a card from the Stampex 2026 event or a letter/card with the special event postmark. Thank you. César

The postcards are wonderful. Please make them available to those who cannot attend, perhaps after the expo. I, and perhaps others, would be willing to pay for them. Thank you
